Karisma Hotels – Jamaica Project Moves Forward

Karisma Hotels Jamaica Project Moves Forward With 1B Funding

The Jamaica Observer is reporting today that after close to a 4 year wait, Karisma Hotels and Resorts is set to break ground on their new resort complex in 2020.

The Jamaica expansion was originally reported years ago and was originally pitched to include at least one El Dorado Resort and one Azul Resort in it’s plans.  However, with the Azul line-up changing so much over the last few years, and the introduction of the Margaritaville and Nickelodeon brands into the resort management company’s line-up, it will be interesting to see what brands the Jamaica complex will house.

Rumors buzzed around the travel world about the causes for the delays (some of which even accused competitor Unique Vacations Ltd, parent company of Sandals and Beaches Resorts of attempting to block the deal)  with this project, but we are pleased to see Karisma VP of Corporate Affairs and Business Development Ruben Becerra announce last week of the company’s 1 billion dollar investment to build over 4,800 room multi-resort complex on the 226 acre property in St. Ann’s, just outside of Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

There has been no official word from Karisma as to the project’s proposed completion date, or any updates as to what properties will be included in the construction, but as soon as we hear, we will provide updates here for you!
